Professional Background
I am a UKCP [United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy] registered Integrative Psychotherapist as well as a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy [BACP]. I was a founder and am general secretary of the United Kingdom Association for Psychotherapy Integration [UKAPI]. I have an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy from the Metanoia Institute, London.
I trained as a social worker and after 10 years working primarily in the health service, moved into social work education. As a trainer and supervisor, I have worked for a wide range of London boroughs and universities. I spent 15 years, part-time, at Brunel University where I was a Lecturer and Course Leader.
I have worked as a counsellor in the health service, in student counselling and in the field of employee counselling. I have been working in private practice as a counsellor, psychotherapist and supervisor for 15 years. Currently I teach on the MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy at the Metanoia Institute, London.
I have several particular areas of interest and experience:
From my time in the health service - the impact of stress, loss and depression on our health and well being, and in how to cope with ill health and disability.
Coping with the impact of trauma which may well link to injustice. I was a founder and then trustee of Action vs Medical Negligence. I co-edited Forgiveness and the Healing Process Routledge [2004] and have written both on the benefits and problems of forgiveness.
The issue for people - whatever their age - to develop their potential whether emotionally, in relationships, academically or in their career.
